Kinda looked like they were going to overshoot the runway, followed by a HARD landing. [s] Gee, I wonder what went wrong [/s]They could have just as easily aborted the landing and made another approach, but that would've caused them embarrassment.

Yeah, it looks like a big "thud" and it landed on all the wheels instead of the nose slowly coming down after the rear. Seems like that should be some pretty basic piloting, unless there was a mechanical problem.

The nosewheel is undamaged though. I think they just crumped the ass of the plane down so hard the rear landing gear couldn't take it, so they ended up landing on the engines with predictable results. That or the landing gear was non-functional for some reason.When I first saw the picture I couldn't imagine how they'd managed it. I thought maybe some huge sidewind had caught the wing and flipped the plane but nope.The only two possibilities here are pilot error or maintainence fuckup.

Which means folks like John Denver, who had his pilot's license pulled over DUIs.Studies also made a distinction. Male pilots - inattention or flawed decision-making (hold my beer). Actually no. Stats from the military also show that female combat pilots have much fewer accidents per flight hour than males. Females are safer.You are comparing the causes of the accidents when they happen, not the frequency of the accidents per flight hour overall.For what it's worth regarding your distinction over causes: men take more risks than women, and the higher risk taking is not compensated for by better dexterity or overall competence.
