Even giving them a second chance or viewing them for the first time. I watched a few Disney classics and didn't understand the criticisms leveled at them. Some of them even had feminist influence in them, but that is more the stuff from like the 90's. At least they came out with something they hadn't done before then.

The El Cid movie from the 50s has scenes about how it doesn't matter if you are a Spaniard or a Moor, so long as you're a nice guy.Boomer anti-racism actually comes from the entertainment they watched in their formative years, not school. Their teachers were probably still racist, and so were their school books.

Sometimes I like to pick an actor out and go through what they have been in, see if anything interests me and then watch that. Although I was disappointed once when I found out that I had watched a film and the scenes with the actor that interested me had basically been cut. So it doesn't always work. And even a good actor like Henry Cavill can't save a horrible script. I feel bad for the slim pickings actors have to deal with in modern storytelling for the screen these days.

Saw a few other things he was in, loved his performances. But ever since he came back to Doctor Who and made some really bad comments... my respect for him just vanished. I don't know what I was even thinking when I liked him in the past. I clearly didn't know him that well or he has changed and grown to become someone I find hard to respect. I'm secondhand embarrassed about a lot of celebrities now.

Thinking of them as whores is probably quite useful. If I recall, the profession was seen as quite low in antiquity. Hollywood glamourised them, created stars when it came to actors. But now we get to see just how ordinary and how dumb their opinions are as they broadcast them for us all to see and make things political because they think it will help their brand image. Then some of them think that it is a good idea to blame and insult the fanbase when a series doesn't do so well. Instant respect lost there. Just take the loss, learn from it and do better next time. Some stuff will be hits and other stuff won't be, it has always been this way. They just give really big budgets to stuff that shouldn't have them because they are basically cheap knockoffs, copycats or deviate from the source material. We wouldn't mind so much if they weren't attached to a series that already has good source material. Like they could be a guilty pleasure you don't take seriously and just laugh along to. Had plenty of those in the past.

I really don't know what to make of it. It was certainly exploring themes of being a man and a mans honour but there wasn't a great conclusion for that.Maybe we were just supposed to come away thinking what a silly thing to happen. From the whole 10 years from now we'll look back on this and laugh that it was so important to them.

Giant is on my list because of Liz Taylor, and it's on the AFTI 100 list which I'm more than half way through, but the original 1997 list, they kicked Giant off the revised list in 2008.
