If only a handful of Rs in Congress decided to oppose Trump, he’s done. Done.So rather than complain about Democrats (who I’ll once again mention don’t have numbers to do much) why don’t we start getting to and calling Republicans’ offices and seeing if one disgruntled Trump voter will do it, too. @TonyStark The handful of Republican congress members who were hesitant to confirm Trump's cabinet nominations ended up voting in favor as soon as J.D. Vance had a chat with them. Elon Musk and his circle have also intimidated them into submission. This goes far deeper than just ideology. The Republicans are unified behind Trump because they have to be. He is the cult leader, anyone who steps out of line will be put in their place. And no one can cross the Paypal Mafia.

@TonyStark Doesn't mean there's nothing we can do. Sure, by all means, call your representatives, send them letters. Just don't place your bets on that paying off. The overwhelm of the Trump-Musk-Thiel administration's actions and the world news in general leaves us with more limited time than ever. That time should be spent on finding solidarity to build community. We cannot rely on hopes that party politics can somehow stop the dictator from getting what he wants. We have to focus our attention on fighting what the regime is doing and preparing for what is to come. Congress will not stop the mass deporations. It is on us to protect the people who are targeted.

@Mondobizarrro @TonyStark I prefer that people who brush me off leave with something to reflect on, not an insult. It turns a good faith attempt at communicating into a bad faith attack that only reinforces what set us apart in the first place. I try to use my professional experience in messaging and advocacy to reach people where they are at and hopefully bridge the gap.With that said, I understand your anger. Liberalism got us to this point. Liberals have enabled the fascists every step of the way and now they are indistinguishable (see: Democrats voting to pass the Laken Riley Act). However, we are in a unique mode of quasi-feudalist technocapitalism where social media divides us into echochambered "teams" that battle out discourse in social media flame wars, obscuring the material reality of our shared class position. Class consciousness has to break out of those teams to unite the working class.
