Does anyone have any resources for getting decent paying WFH jobs when I’m basically undesirable to employers bc my skillset is animation industry which doesn’t translate to other kinds of jobs? I’ve tried searching say reddit but i’ve learned is anything that sounds good isA scam or it requires credentials I don’t have and I’m likely going to be homeless in a month if I don’t pull in a larger income.

I’m disabled so most work that involves standing or physical activity is inaccessible to me and minimum wage where I live will not even cover rent.Moving out of the area would cause me to lose access to health care I need and i’m still in the months long process of seeing specialists and getting tests and trialing medication and it’d be devastating to have to leave and start at square one again.

@DarkHammer i highly doubt any studio would want to hire me after how I became known as the frontfacing Shota Artist. I don’t even have a portfolio anymore TBH.

@afairmaiden if you live in the US, I may be able to get you an in person job with the resort I work for. They do provide employee housing and good pay... but I don't have any WFH gigs right now.

@afairmaiden call centers are pretty entry-level. captioncall and later afni kept my partner stably employed with health insurance. they tend to have their own in-house training period where you might be required to go in to a local call center, but after a few months you can do full WFH. with stuff like phone captioning services you barely even have to interact with people. you might also look into graphic design (different skillset, i know) legal or video transcription jobs, or data entry

@afairmaiden Maybe with a new portfolio, no links to your online accounts, using art replicating different projects or rigs or animations you could find a smaller studio to work with?Maybe spend a day or two picking and choosing a professional and clean portfolio incase there's a chance you could cast a wide net and land one?You could try submitting it running concurrent with your other searches. You're wired for animation and I hope you're able to do it again one day, even if it's smaller.

@afairmaiden I'm sorry to hear that... but you do have options! The resort where I work offers employee housing and health insurance. We have open positions which would not require standing or significant physical activity, including:-Concierge-Night Services-Spa reservations agentPay for all positions is above minimum wage. Some even get tips or commissions. Your new quality of life would be worth the disruption of moving, imo. And we have some great doctors/specialists here. :blobheart:

@DarkHammer @afairmaiden worst case you could shoot your shot, i'm not intimately aware of what they're like but gooseworx gives the impression they've been around the internet block and are pretty chill and could probably let you work under a pseudonym if it's desiredif they say no then hey whatever

@afairmaiden if you happen to know the adobe suite some design correction jobs are avilable in advertiseing agencies and paper product companies (notebooks, calendars, agendas) Not sura about the livable wage part. Around here you need two or three people even if its twice minimum wage to actually afford a place.
