"Biologists STOP using similar words for different levels of clade grouping CHALLENGE"Difficulty Level: ImpossibleFormicidae? Formicoid? Formicinae? Formicini? Formica? What is this little creature? It's an:Ant Ant Ant Ant Ant So informative and memorable.I guess that words that end in ae > oid > cinae > cini ?Is that reliable?I think bears are also terrible in this way.

I always thought that clades that end in "oid" were just informal groupings and might not make much sense. But don't know what gave me that impression.

@andrewg "hominoidea"If a word is more suffix than root it should be put in the "shame" box. One more letter and these primates are DONE.

@futurebird This reminds me: the existence of metroid implies the existence of metridae, metrinae, metriini, and/or metra

@futurebird I don't think that bears are as terrible as biologists in this way. Bears just classify ants as "sweet" or "ouchy", which is not comprehensive but it's a much simpler system.

@futurebird @andrewg Homi-no-idea: when the sounds you're making aren't even close to the actual tune.
