When snakes use the internet they obviously move the mouse with their head and type with the tip of their tail. (Someone said it was the other way around and this makes NO sense.)

@futurebird I feel like touch typing would be harder for a snake than using a mouse without looking, so I would probably have guessed the other way round, also; snake needs to see which keys it is hitting.

@futurebird So what you're saying is snakes are touch typists.

And since someone will probably ask: Ants hack nrf24lu1 controllers to make their own custom input devices. They don't bother with human keyboards as it's too much trouble to teach 128 super majors how to stand on each key and press them in the correct sequence with their big heads. Although they did initially try this method the majors kept getting bored and falling asleep especially if they were assigned a boring key such as capslock.

@futurebird The problem that keeps flummoxing snake technologists and product designers is that their end users always swallow the mice.

@futurebird maybe it would be better to design a staff-shaped interface a snake could coil itself around, and issue commands by squeezing different coils in appropriate sequences.

@futurebird You make the assumption that, like human, they put their keyboards in front of the computer and the mouse on the side, but I don't think that's what they do.

@datarama I won't ask how you know that. I think I can imagine.

@futurebird The one assigned to numlock stopped showing up, and nobody noticed for three weeks.

@futurebird but also, do snakes use TRGBU monitors? (Thermal, Red, Green, Blue, Ultraviolet)

@sophieschmieg All the hymenopterans do... so it's possible.

@futurebird it’s possible to find traces of these early attempts in old Usenet archives. Just look for posts that suddenly turns to ALL CAPS ;)
