@stux @protonprivacy To me, Andy's post and his statement on the post sound naive at the very best. I'm trying to be as charitable as possible and it seems he seems to believe that the things said by people like JD Vance on antitrust can be taken at face value.

@stux @protonprivacy This is a completely insane take. The last four years have been the best for antitrust enforcement in my lifetime. On the other hand the first Trump administration was just a standard Republican pro-big business regime cloaked in fake populism and stupidity.

@stux @protonprivacy @jonah This is so disappointing. I just switched to several of their products last year- and the idea of moving all of that again is daunting, but this really gives me pause. I hope they will address this. An online privacy based company supporting a man that is the embodiment of censorship and is pro surveillance capitalism and government surveillance in general- I may need to rethink this. And thinking that Trump stands up for the little guys- that's just hysterical.

@stux @protonprivacy This. And alas, the old adagium: "if something is free, you are the product" installed again.Use Wireguard software with paid VPN subscription and dedicated IP. It costs but it's rock solid, my VPN-troubles are gone.Proprietary VPN-software is unreliable and buggy so let's descent to protocol level.

@stux @protonprivacy Andy’s tweet on X in Dec., then Jonah’s toot yesterday, then Andy using the Company account to answer it, then answers deleted, then answering someone on Proton’s subreddit, then this. At every step, am like: ouch, when does this litany of never ending bad takes stop, for the poor employees at Proton, in particular those in charge of MarCom, can pretend it never happened, and carry on building a great product (actually, several) I was happy to pay for. Streisand by the book.

@stux I'm very far removed from reddit nowadays but I enjoyed this comment: https://old.reddit.com/r/ProtonMail/comments/1i2nz9v/on_politics_and_proton_a_message_from_andy/m7h4upt/It highlights that it's not just a matter of using the wrong account, it's not just misinterpretation and mistakes at play as per the 'non-apology apology', but rather it's a factually wrong political bias.I'm not sure how anyone could trust Proton to engage and lobby faithfully on antitrust, privacy legislation, net neutrality, and related things anymore.

@stux @protonprivacy Completely inappropriate response on the official corporate account. Even if Andy was only posting this sort of thing on his personal accounts, it would give me extreme pause about his judgement and how the service might be run and what things it might quietly be willing to do out of sight. You know what would restore faith in @protonprivacy for me? Andy resigning, right here and now. Failing that? I'm a MSP that is scrambling to look at EU hosting options.

@stux @protonprivacy "Hi all, last night, a post from last year from my personal X account suddenly became a topic of discussion here on Reddit."You're the CEO of a company. Your statements reflect on the company regardless of whether it's on the company's account or yours. That gets pounded into our heads at work regardless of position. The higher up the corporate food chain you go, the more statements by employees reflect upon the company.
