@sabrina that's not a bad option. It's a x16 slot wired as x4 so I was thinking an X710-DA2 because it's a PCI-e 3.0 card

@sabrina yeah I like it at least in theory ... but it's considerably pricier than a CX3 ... hmm. do I need 20Gbps to the switch and/or a 10G connection to another server in the future?

@cinebox @sabrina apparently you can't get full speed on an X520-DA2 in an x4 slot because it's only PCI-e 2.0, but x4 on the X710 is fine because it's 3.0

@izaya I used to use Intel 10G and 40G NICs due to a seemingly high reputation, but I ditched them for Mellanox ConnectX-3 because the Linux performance is significantly better. And more consistent.And less expensive.Anybody want some Intel NICs?
