I seriously have to search for how to delete an Instagram acc for my gf since I cannot find it in the app or web interface :amaze: A perfect example of a shitty platform is when you need to search on how to delete your account

@stux And Insta badgers me to sign up for an account every time I visit the website. "It's better in the app" Insta says. Yes, because they engineered the website to show only a certain number of images and then block scrolling.

@stux It’s a bit hidden. I definitely had to look it up as well. But the info is pretty easy to find, thankfully. The key thing is it’s in some new-ish account manager thing that I forget what they call it.

@stux if a platform is as great as they say, the cancel/delete button could be front and center without anyone clicking it.The fact that they need to hide it, is an admission that their platform sucks and the only way to prevent people leaving is to not give them the opportunity to do so.

@stux The Gemini AI got onto my phone, and I asked it to delete itself. Not surprised when that didn't work, so I had to search through all the FAQs and posts about what a pain it is

@stux what I’m seeing on iOS: From the Settings menu, go to Account Center, then Personal Details, then Account Ownership and Control. There are options there for deactivation or deletion.

@stux Make sure the account deletion also removes all the data. Sometimes those are separate requests. Or, delete everything posted to make sure.

@stux I just deleted mine, the delete was in a different place than it said in the help. I went to 'account center' then, I believe, 'privacy & security'. It was there, under something that said accounts, or something like that. I could also delete all the content before deleting the account. I'm sorry I didn't go back and map it better that that, once I saw that I could delete I just did it quickly.
