@DollyCat Robotic litter boxes that tweet when the deed is done and the bin is full (to call over the roomba to empty that in the neighbor's yard)

@DollyCat Clumping but not the clay type. Clay, as is, does not clump. Manufacturers add a chemical to force it to clump and it's dangerous to cats. Not for nothing they warn you not to dispose of the litter in the toilet, it can clog up the drain and you have to get a plumber to fix it.I had a bookmark for a website, the owner raised purebred cats and she was worried about how many kittens that died. Once, she had an autopsy done on one of the kittens, and results showed litter had clogged the intestines and she learned it was due to the clumping clay litter used. She changed for wheat litter and problem was solved. She had an exhaustive list of all non-clay litter brands and she rated them for effectiveness. Sad to say her website has been off line. I had found that website over 30 years ago. You can also get grass litters, corn litters, and I now use a pea husk litter that leaves absolutely no tracking or dust and I love it.

@DollyCat I had done this research because one of the cats I had back then suffered from asthma. The website owner also saw a fair amount of her kittens with asthma. When they scratch to dig holes in the litter pan they breathed in the dust, she thought. Also, a cat licks their fur, paws, etc. so they obviously ingest one way or another the litter.

@Chronic-Yonic omg I was starting to come to same conclusion Mac. The dust from non clumping is wild. We had some left over from last fur baby so used it... but online it said non clumping for kitten then onto clumping. But....Recently got air purifier and whenever kitten even steps into tray it goes into hyper drive so... it can't be good ... can it.

@DollyCat @Chronic-Yonic I had never heard of pea husk stuff before. I remember using some wood pellet kind years ago and oh my God, the mess!

@HebrideanHecate @DollyCat Yeah I had heard cats really weren't too crazy using it, the pieces are too hard for their paws?

@HebrideanHecate @DollyCat The brand I now use is CatIt with discreet lavender scent. But they also make unscented. And another plus, I completely change it a lot less than others I used before. Used to be tops, empty completely the pans and wash them maximum four weeks. Now with this brand I can go up to two months between complete changes.

@starsstorm @HebrideanHecate @DollyCat What I hated was the tracking. The cats would leave on the floor pieces/granules of the stuff and I like walking barefoot, especially in summer when it's hot, and it was like walking on tiny sharp stones. I got tired of walking around yelping and yiking.

@Chronic-Yonic @starsstorm @DollyCat Wilf does it with his dinner bowls too. I got those trays with the inset dishes, hoping it would foil him but no, he still manages it, scrape, batter, clang, clang and out and over they go. Little shit has also started this thing in the middle of the night where he starts hammering at the bottom of sitting room door, there is a kind of wooden draught excluder thing fixed to it, but it is not fixed tight and he thumps and hammers at it 😑

@Chronic-Yonic @HebrideanHecate @DollyCat We have the litter box in our bathroom and my sweet baby prefers to poop whenever I’m taking a bath :( she also thinks she’s digging to the other side of the world.

@starsstorm @Chronic-Yonic @DollyCat Ah, bathroom nonsense, in bath, cat sitting or walking along edge, other one peering in over edge.

@HebrideanHecate @Chronic-Yonic @DollyCat So much bathroom nonsense. She needs like a cat boat because she also climbs all over me in the tub and falls in sometimes. She loves water though, she’s always in the kitchen sink trying to get a bath or drinking from it.
