@cough @db Being married made me very happy even though it was immediately followed, for us, with serious financial insecurity (it was during the 2008-2013 recession) and lots of employment setbacks. Money problems wreck a lot of marriages but we never fought about it, and still don't. I signed over my paycheck to him and I get an allowance and I trust him to do his best to take care of the family. I don't always agree with his decisions but I don't want to have to make them myself. I'm not that smart about money. Being married still makes me very happy. The people who're unhappy with you being happy are probably toxic wammans (a large group) and beta simps, both of which groups would like to undermine happy unions. Make note of who they are and get tf away from them.

Never put yourself in a position where somebody else "allows" you to be happy. Just be happy. This is especially effective with people who do not want you to be happy - they will seethe, and be unhappy themselves, never realizing that is their *own problem, and not yours. tl;dr: never ask permission to be happy.
