       ugh. I've got one of those fun situations where smbclient can connect to a samba server, but mount.cifs can't mount it using the same username/password.there's like 300 different reasons why this could happen and they're all stupid

       @foone I can have an identical config work on one client and fail on another. I usually just flip settings randomly for a few hours until it starts working on both

       ahh, if you don't have cifs-utils installed, it simply doesn't work, but it sounds like it's working. ugh.

       @foone I initially read that as "cis-utils" and thought "what's *that* got to do with it?!".
