@kirby its not a particularly bad learning curve either and the things you learn (and more importantly: habits you unlearn) tend to be far more widely applicable than what you already knewlike i genuinely dont get it, i figured this shit out when i was a shit for brains 15 year old and had i had people around me to walk me through things like burning an installer onto a flash drive, dualbooting and wine i probably wouldve done it even earlier than that

@kirby at least for Ubuntu there was none unless you count "apt install <program>", but I'm about to move to Artix :clueless:

@Cyrillic @kirby there's basically no learning curve for Artix if you're just going to use the GUI installer program the livecds provide, it's basically Manjaro but like cooler or something

@kirby @kirby yeah I don't expect anything apart from having to learn hotkeys to do anything (going to use Luke Smith's setup script, looking at his setup convinced me that windowed desktop managers are lame)

@Cyrillic @kirby I sense you're newer to Unix, just trying different things out and seeing what you like?

@kirby @kirby I wouldn't say so, I've used KDE Neon for about 2 years now, it does everything I'd want out of a desktop but it's bloated, leaks memory and there's some possibly systemd related bug where sometimes my computer will just black out instead of being woken out of sleep mode.

@Cyrillic @kirby Linux and weird hardware combos still struggle a bit huh. So casual user looking to learn more about Linux? Funnily enough that's how I started

@kirby @kirby I looked up the issue, found an arch forum thread where apparently systemd changed something and a suggestion was to put something into a configI'm not sure if that helped and I don't know how to reproduce the bug, but I know it wasn't present for almost all of my time on Neon.

@Cyrillic @kirby something like that would've really stuck out to me as a kernel issue honestly but systemd touching stuff it probably shouldn't be touching is like, believableSystemd is a disaster, nuff said
