@astheroth Yeah, I remember all the hype back when I was grade 7. Is it still kicking? I remember broski Kurt Cobained himself or something like that, but I wanted to host a pod at the time but couldn't afford to. Now we have the AP fediverse which at least to me is more intriguing.

@HopperMCS Based. Diaspora is almost dead since 2020. Slow development and stubborn developers who decided not rewritting the whole thing when it was obvious it was poorly done.

@HopperMCS Yeah, somewhat. It took 10 years to write an api for diaspora. Besides it went really obsolete on the services it offered etc

@astheroth Jesus, most projects map that shit out before they even start iirc, and yeah, I assumed a big part of it was that Diaspora had its own protocol for federation that wasn't really ever part of the fediverse at large, even when the fediverse was still mostly OStatus before AP existed.
