I posted on my blog about Jimmy Carter. Hoping to post more in 2025 but don't hold me to that - https://www.danlynch.org/blog/2025/01/rip-jimmy-carter/#music #creativecommons #JimmyCarter #presidentcarter

"Regardless of your political leanings, you cannot deny that we lost a good guy and positive influence on the world."@methoddan I have seen many people online absolutely deny that.Thank you for your work, Mr. Carter. You were an inspiration, and I hope one day your country will be mature enough that most people will see that. 😐

@clacke You are quite right that a lot of people disagree with me. Back 15 years ago when l wrote the song l actually got angry emails saying things like "thanks for not mentioning he was the worst president we ever had!!!". Those people have gone strangely quiet lately (shrug)

@clacke @methoddan > I have seen many people online absolutely deny that. I don't understand that at all. He was a good person and a positive influence before I first heard of him (1976, during the campaign). > Thank you for your work, Mr. Carter. You were an inspiration, and I hope one day your country will be mature enough that most people will see that. I think most older people in the US know this already. If they don't, they certainly should.Mr Carter wasn't in the public eye as much as he got older, so maybe some younger people don't know it. I still remember being surprised to learn that Carter, a former US President, was nailing together houses for poor people with Habitat for Humanity ... something that to my knowledge, no other former President has done.

People who believe that you have to be a bully to be "strong" think that he actively hurt the country by being President. He was the first President to not be re-elected in almost a century, the voters would rather have Reagan, and not only was it a pretty clear popular vote win; I had no idea until I looked it up just now, but Reagan had a mind-boggling 10:1 electoral vote ratio. Those are the older people, have they re-assessed him as the years went on?Of course, not everybody votes. A bit over half of the eligible voters did.@lnxw37j1@methoddan

@lnxw37j1 I'd hope so. I'm not so sure, especially in today's political climate.
