I'm loving some of the comments about USB C being a fragile connector, this implies that both Micro USB and the majority of Barrel Jacks are not as fragile or even more so.

@BrodieOnLinux I've NEVER had a USB-C cable fail on me, as opposed to multiple micro-USB and barrel adapters...

@killyourfm I've had a few cheap cables fail on me but not a port so far

@BrodieOnLinux magsafe is pretty damn nice when it comes to iphone charging. hopefully android phones will eventually get this with qi 2, but for some reason no one adopts it. but ya i haven't had any issues with usb-c cables. even when i had to plug my pixel 3a every day into my old cruze for android auto.

@unknown1234_5 It's not a perfect replacement for A, but I think it's hard to argue it replacing micro

@BrodieOnLinux I find it funny how people only look at the downsides of it, ignoring how well balanced (in redundency - cost - ease) it actually is.

@BrodieOnLinux I'm actually rather surprised by how sturdy USB-C is for its size. It feels pretty much on par with USB type A to me.

@BrodieOnLinux the best thing on c is that the plugs are the part that gets loose not ever the sockets. So if a connection becomes shaky just replace the cable. I cannot begin to count how many a sockets i had to bend the retaining pins back into shape or on how many micro sockets that little tab broke off. Mini was always loose from factory and i don’t know what they thought the b plugs would accomplish…

@BrodieOnLinuxThe difference is that for replacing a jack or micro usb it's a easy DIY job. For a usbc port you need to replace the motherboard or get a specialist to solder the port under a microscope. Also because usbc replaces every other port you are fucked if it's broken. I already had two usbc ports fail, leading to €1000+ costs. So they might be less fragile but they are still more fragile than barrel charging connectors and way more expensive.
