What if #MSM newspapers didn't paywall their articles, but instead paywalled their homepages?

@CapitalB They should support #RSS feeds. Those are for power users, these papers wouldn't lose much by keeping them open. The limiting is an interesting idea though

@lnxw37b2 Hmm maybe I'm presuming that their content is good.If you consistently put out interesting/good content that goes viral I'm presuming you'll want to go right to them to see what they've put out next, which you would need to pay for.The way paywalls are a barrier of entry now. I never read #Forbes because all their articles are paywalled, for example, as well as #WSJ's original journalism articles.

@realcaseyrollins @CapitalB Never gonna get people off centralized #SocialMedia if you assert #RSS is for “power users”

@mjgardner @CapitalB I love #RSS and it needs to be more user-friendly (and it's getting there! Thanks to the efforts of folks like @adam) but until that happens yes it is for power users.

@realcaseyrollins @CapitalB @adam User-friendly #RSS subscription is a solved problem as long as you have a feed reader app. It was even more solved back when readers were built into popular web browsers.

@mjgardner @realcaseyrollins @adam ThisIronically Twatter, reddit and yt had RSS for a loooong time then boom, cut cord. The joke is on them. I still have many bloggers in the reader/opml, some >15 years. There is a large group of readers armed with a very thin but large net of blogs who refuse to be siloed. The problem is not on the supply side, the problem is that ppl are used to shiny things (compare the look and feel of Newpipe with Spotify).
