       @LordWoolamaloo As an Irish person who lived in the UK for more than a decade (a good chunk of it in Edinburgh) this is still one of the weirder aspects of British culture that I've encountered. It's up there with waiting more than 3 days for a funeral. 🤷‍♀️

       @nusher they do recycle and compost them but yes, still feels very wasteful to me too. Apparently some go to zoos and wildlife parks as certain animals love gnawing on them or sharpening claws on them
