The three women i had before my wife and i settled up in our teens did in no way benefit me. I’m a cradle Catholic, but I left because I adopted the sedevacantist position after too much noticing. I’m leaning toward Orthodoxy because I don’t believe there are so few people that have it right (the sedevacantists), the Protestant reformation and the sack of Constantinople.

He received a calling from Christ as God to proclaim the gospel to the Gentiles. St. Paul did not leave the religion of his fathers. Rather, he recognized his new vocation as a continuation of the role of the prophets in the Old Covenant.I said all of that to illustrate what first century Christianity looked like. It was a fulfillment of prophecy in the continuing religion of the ancient Israelites. For instance, St. Paul himself describes his experience on the road to Damascus in Acts chapters 9 and 22. It's recounted again in 1 Corinthians 15 and Galatians 1. The source for that is the Orthodox Study Bible. It's interesting to note that St. Paul (Saul) persecuted Christians under the legal structure of Judaism. He had authority to arrest Jewish Christians, but had no authority over Gentile Christians (Acts 9:1-2).My knowledge of The Didache frames part of the understanding of the early Church - baptism, fasting on Wednesday and Friday, morning, noon and evening prayer, the Eucharist, Confession, Church heirarchy (bishops and deacons), almsgiving, etc. The Didache predates the established biblical cannon by a few hundred years, although it contains almost direct quotes from the Epistles.Another book that I used for reference is "The Religion of the Apostles: Orthodox Christianity in the First Century" by Rev. Dr. Stephen De Young whose academic bona fides are unquestionable. It's a book I recommend to protestants specifically.

However....Of all the Churches out there, the only one with a direct unbroken line to those early churches is the Orthodox Church.
