       @abstractcode at least a decade ago, I heard on the radio an interview with a Japanese official about their healthcare system. When asked if any Japanese people went bankrupt with medical debt, the official paused. "I don't understand the question." It was evident he could not grasp the concept of medical debt, let alone causing bankruptcy. This man's puzzlement has stayed in my mind.
