Most plants that bees and butterflies like ants will like too. Since they have nectar. But, there have to be ways to get even more ants than that. Especially coveted unexpected ants.

@greycat IDK when there is an ant I'm generally the first person who notices. NYC has a big problem with lack of insect diversity.

@futurebird We got some of those tubular black solar-powered lawn lights on sale at Lowes. I did not realize that they were A) almost entirely hollow, and B) open ln near the baseNeedless to say, they are nice and toasty during daylight and were quickly colonized by local sugar ants. I left them alone after I found them while trying to replace one of the batteries; as long as they're not coming inside nobody minds them.So if folks can't grow ant plants, I recommend tubular lawn lights!

@futurebird There are probably more books on how to deal with too many ants. How to keep them from farming aphids in your garden, how to keep them from spreading plant diseases, etc. But you could reverse engineer them into how to attract ants, maybe, based on how to eliminate them.(Many people seem to consider them on par with invasive rodents and actively try to eliminate them, which seems to be getting more effective).

@futurebirdSome suggestions for your book:Plants with aphids and other such bugs that produce sugary substances. But you knew this. You probably also know this but it's more obscure. Some passion vines create the substance by themselves. Passiflora edulis, the edible purple one, does this for instance.
