       God can only be love because God's Being is always for us, not for God. God uniquely does not need to be, because of God's superiority to Being. we creatures are because we must be for there to be an us; for us Being is a necessity. it is not at all necessary for God: God does not need to be, Being is not God's natural state. yet God's Being provides us with an experience which we desperately need, of a perfection within Being which is greater than Being. this Being-of-God cannot be other than love, because it is an emptying-out-of-self and a coming-into-us for our sake, and that act is intrinsically one of love
