if I ever mysteriously become a billionaire, the first thing I'm setting up is an organization to fund weird reverse engineering nerds to take apart old games/software and make them work on modern systems & figure out how to mod them if necessary

right now the only recognition you get for hacking a nintendo console is a CCC talk and a lawsuit, which is bullshit. you should get a big trophy and a bunch of money, and any legal fees to tell Nintendo to piss off should also be paid.

@foone I don't know if it counts for anything, but I at least recognise that if I was ever looking for a systems developer who can dig deeply into a complicated system, you'd be a shoe in.And, it's the kind of work I point to that I'm incapable of when I'm accused of being a very good programmer.
