Listening to radio, BBC news just described how a failing rail franchise was to be the *first* in the UK taken back into national ownership. As usual, by "UK", the BBC means England - ScotRail was taken into government ownership two years ago. Ah, the London-based media blinkers - if it hasn't happened in Englandshire it doesn't count. Quality journalism and reporting... Sigh.

@LordWoolamaloo Aren't LNER, Northern, and TransPennine all owned by the UK Government already? So it isn't the first in England. The BBC story at https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ceqlnrgjr79o qualifies it as the first of the current UK Government (since July).

@slowe I noticed the next radio news bulletin they had amended it to "the first in the UK since Labour were in government" so obviously someone spotted that they had ballsed it up.
