@girls Extremely not true. No one has thought "Visa? It's that currency and money transfer company that approves of anime porn in particular." It's just a name on a card in their wallets.

@girls yea, because making the only method of making legal payments illegal always worked out, and protected people.

@Daemoria @girls What they are doing should be penalized. They should be forced to allow all legal transactions or be barred from doing business in the country. These payment processors are only going to get worse the more they realize they are able to get away with.

@Disa @girls you say that, but this is what happens when you have monopolistic control on the fundamental concept of money. it'll take a *lot* of change that people simply don't have the interest in advocating for.People are too complacent/lazy.

@Daemoria @girls It’s definitely problematic. I could actually see cryptocurrency gaining more popularity if they continue doing this. I’ve already seen a chunk of people over on baraag using Monero for commissions and such.In Japan it doesn’t seem to be as big of a deal, because from what I know they have many paypal-like services. They also have JCB which seems to be the most lax Card Provider when it comes to what you purchase. They even have “Pay in convenience store” options, which I see being used on Japanese sites. So at least to my very basic westerner understanding, they seem to have more payment options available to them.In the U.S at least there was a bill trump proposed his last term, which would force payment processors not to discriminate based on purchases. It was shot down by the Biden administration and never was able to get through. That’s probably one of the top things I hope to see from his next term. Because, like you mentioned, having certain monopolistic corporations in charge of the primary way we use currency. It really harms us as a society.

@RehnSturm256 @Daemoria @girls @Disa why don't they (the websites that sell porn) just make some kind of points system? You buy the points in a separate website with credit card that doesn't have any porn but the points can be used in the main site. Bam, there it is, you never bought any porn with your card, just online currency.Honestly that sounds way more viable than crypto because it can be extremely tricky for people who know nothing about it like me

@Kyou @Daemoria @girls @RehnSturm256 A points system does work for a lot of sites (ironically it’s the illegal ones that are most accessible via Card Companies it seems.) I’m not sure why more companies don’t do this, as it does seem to be the most effective way to implement things. Every site that I have seen sell NSFW content does some sort of point system (often through another website to add an additional layer of separation from the business.)I’m kinda skeptical of this practice in general, though, since there’s nothing stopping payment processors from just refusing to serve these things too. In fact, I could almost guarantee this is what would happen if enough sites started doing it. I also have a feeling it would have to be done very specifically in order to avoid potential money laundering laws. And then you have to make sure your points aren’t classified as a digital asset like a cryptocurrency because then you have to deal with all that red tape.I’m sure it’s more complicated than it seems, based on the amount of legal businesses that do it vs the amount of piracy sites that do it.It also to me feels more like a bandaid solution. What we need is for these companies to be forced to not be allowed to discriminate on purchases.People are smarter than they say they are. I think a lot of the times people say crypto is hard or they don’t understand it because they don’t put in any effort to learn it. The truth is crypto is different from what people are used to and people don’t want to learn about it.I’d say your biggest excuse is actually just the location you are based, since cryptocurrency (to do it the most optimal and private way) requires you have some amount of storage space to run a local node. (which isn’t the only way to do it, but is the best way.) and ideally that storage should be an SSD or better because HDDs will take literal days to sync even a small blockchain.

@Disa @Kyou @Daemoria @girls yea, if the payment processors blacklisted the whole company, that’s the problem. I wonder if they could have two separate sites that use the same points you can purchase.

@RehnSturm256 @Daemoria @Kyou @girls That’s how a lot of things do it (I mention that in my post actually.) And is how a lot of piracy sites do it. But then they still (if they want to do it legally) have to operate that site (and potentially separate company) and then there might be money laundering concerns. And other such concerns I mentioned.
