And combined with one of those fancy switches that you can turn off and on per port from the GUI, you could control your lamp over the Ethernet. And write a HA plugin for this? New approach to home automation!

@stfn depends on your switch, if it’s old and second hand like mine, should be able to find the snmp MIBs (things that give a nice human name to the addresses, [dns but hierarchical]) If it’s new, then it might have an HTTP api (ubiquity does)
