       @bbhack I think smart traffic lights could by adjusting the cycles on the fly based on traffic conditions.  It could easily improve the flow.  I've seen many cases where its to short in one direction and backs up through many intersections, while the other direction is given more time than needed.

       @Phil That's what I was thinking. Won't do as much for freeways, but some freeway congestion is from exits and onramps.
