I am sad to hear the news of aethy shutting down. Already I am receiving a lot of requests for accounts from aethy users on top of the backlog of applications I still have to get through.I am also seeing concerns over the future of our own instance here. Please know that if baraag shuts down it is because I have exhausted every possible avenue to keep this community alive. I will not give up for as long as I can legally and financially afford to maintain baraag.

I also want to apologize for the sluggish performance of baraag lately. I am aware that browsing & loading pages have been less than ideal. Ever since the mass exodus from X started, baraag has been under heavy load as people traffic to alternatives like the fediverse or bluesky. I tried adding more resources but its barely able to keep up. I plan to migrate baraag in the next month to a more powerful server to get us back to speed. 7 years we survived. With your support let us survive another 7

@satori Could us artists perhaps do any more to contribute? Perhaps an event hosted once a year or so where willing participants take commissions which profits will go into donations for the instance?I know this is something one could do subtly, all year round. But perhaps making it an event helps raise awareness, and maybe it brings fun to both commissioners and artists.I mean, many artists here already love doing monthly challenges, so why not do something similar for baraag?

@satori sucks when people freak tf out and try to pile into one places over the smallest things. We are all under the same scrutiny and no matter where you run life won't get immediately better but don't make it hard on other people. This is the one place artists like me can truly express the content i want and i'd hate for something to happen especially with all the work yall have put in to make it a place for everyone 💪

@satori I'm sad for its users but not for its admins: They chickened out over the silliest fearmongering they could buy from the mainstream media. You're actually trying and setting an example, sad how few others are willing to follow.Once more this is proof that #Mastodon and the #fediverse need a serious design upgrade. It's #decentralized yes, but if one big server goes down tons of people are screwed. We need a more node based approach with mirroring of posts between servers!
