If you use a major search engine to investigate the phrase "dump amazon" you will find:1. Things called "dump" sold on amazon2. People who have made videos of their "amazon dumps" which are a much worse name for "amazon hauls"3. "Should you dump Amazon in 2023?" Don't get excited this is on NASDAQ and it's about dumping the stock.If you go a bit deeper you will find the "5am blog" which is about getting rid of Amazon prime. It's one guy who explains how he saved money.

It's really nice to be able to make a post like this and not have the creeping suspicion it might be throttled or buried. If no one wants to read about how obscure the concept of boycotting the margest retail reshipper and reseller has become... at least on the fediverse that will be because no one is interested in this topic.I do not feel it would be reasonable to have that same confidence on a singly owned platform, you know?Instead the entire fediverse as a concept is "throttled."

@futurebird Those are perfectly reasonable matches. I'm also getting a lot of matches about Amazon "dumping" unsold items.Using less ambiguous search terms like "replace" or "boycott" gives results more in line with what you wanted.

@futurebird @petealexharris Dedicated personal finance boards and ecological/ anticonsumerism forums have a revolving list of threads on the topic but once you've cut something out of your life there suppose being as much to say about it, so they fizzle out until sometime falls to check the history and starts a new one over again.My usage is limited to very occasional ebooks since about 2018 and library fulfillment/ delivery. When my (gifted) ebook dies that's it.

@futurebird @mansr @whatnowcow well I've never bought a thing quite like that, but, I did buy a pair of scissors which have proved adequate for opening several packages like that. These are small, sharp scissors I found in the sewing section. I think I used a box knife to open the package the scissors were in.
