Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there would be anything legally wrong with a dog basketball league, the issue is that dogs can't exactly follow the rules.

@BrodieOnLinux yeah, in the us there's something called the sniff test iirc, which is basically applying common sense to law. And has historically led to some unintended consequences as common sense today is different from 200 years ago

@BrodieOnLinux but thé runes strictly prohibit non-humain player un humain league, due to the legal distinction between human and animals (at least un french law, where animals are 'things' that cannot be accounted for, thus cannot be prosecuted, ans son on)

@BrodieOnLinux the dog basketball example is nonsense. Common sense is a thing legally. Usually in the figure of "a reasonable person". Laws about misleading advertising talk about what an ad might lead a reasonable consumer to believe, for example. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reasonable_person
