I'd like to remind people that the USA passed a law promising to invade the Netherlands if any U.S. war criminals were ever put on trial in the International Criminal Court The Hague as part of the Hague Invasion Act.

The new law authorizes the use of military force to liberate any American or citizen of a U.S.-allied country being held by the court, which is located in The Hague. The Hague Invasion Act was passed by war criminal George W. Bush in the name of his own protection from any consequences of his invasion of Iraq. What is and isn't a war crime is still decided by the USA and no other nation on earth.

@ErikUden reading the comments are hilariousthis dates back to the Bush/Cheney era & i guess it went down the memory holehow soon people forget!the ICC hasn't been a real thing in a generation most war criminals are never brought to justice, this is why war crime is a popular activity

@ErikUden Still the law can not justify an invasion and even a special forces operation would be unlikely to be justified by that (But there is precedence that suggests tolerance by allies and US politicians)The upsetting thing is the world view of the law: Instead of just prosecuting such crimes itself, the USA suggests that it might be necessary to use almost all available means to free a suspect (including economic warfare).

@ErikUden That's got to be one of the funniest laws in human history. I just pictured it and I cannot stop laughing. 😂 Would certainly pop over from Germany to see how the invasion is going. Can already picture how the notoriously relaxed Dutch people would just welcome the US soldiers with biertje, frikandel with friet speciaal and a nice joint. 😎 ✌🏼

@the5thColumnist I like that idea - sadly, ever since a Ukrainian missile (accidentally) killed a polish farmer, we have learned that Article 5 is not an obligation. Consider the fact that the first time Article 5 was called (after 9/11) only a few NATO membership countries helped with invading Iraq. You can deny Article 5. You can just not do it. That's why NATO allies constantly also help each other out geopolitically or diplomatically in order to increase chances of help when under attack.

@ErikUden If you leave the UN Human Rights Council, you do so because you are planning to commit crimes against human rights. In doing so, Trump is positioning the USA outside the international community and making it unworthy of any trust.
