FROGFIND UPDATE: Someone has been hammering the site with a scraper using rotating proxies that I can't block. It's pegging my server CPU at 100%. This has caused a service interruption.Working on solutions 😭

@ActionRetro I don’t know anything about the back end of this system so ignore me if not applicable. But you could look at something like fail2ban. It watches server logs and can block remote clients when there are too many matches in a defined rolling time period. Normally it’s used to watch for “bad” things like too many failed authentications, but you also configure it block when there are simply too many requests from the same client.

@ActionRetro I know that 68k.news hasn't been working as intended either. Every article comes up with the same error message. Is this because of as similar reason with FrogFind?

@ActionRetro not sure what your config is, but it you turn on one of the Apache 2 rate limiting modules. If using Nginx then there limit request modules.

@ActionRetro I’ve noticed a number of sites recently have been hit with attacks, targets which don’t really make much practical sense. IA being the most notable example, but it’s becoming pretty widespread. My guess would be that there are general AI-based location and attack tools finding servers with potential vulnerabilities, but why is still an open question.

@ActionRetro This is bad news- FujiNet's working HTTP client (Apple2/Atari) depends on FF for any web retrieval. If you are still blocked I have some ideas (I did something simpler for my BBS).

@ActionRetro @dillera Hi! I have a “Server error” when I use FDN’s (French Data Network, an associative ISP) DNS resolver (80.67.169.12, 80.67.169.40); but it works fine when I use a local DNS resolver with Unbound.Could it be that you banned FDN’s IP to mitigate your recent DDoS attack?

@ActionRetro No:– Browsers: tested with Vivaldi (Chromium-based) and Floorp (Firefox-based): same results.– OS: Windows 11 and Arch Linux. The thing is: I use FDN’s DNS on Windows and Unbound on Arch.

@ActionRetro @TritTriton try using the openDNS resolvers? 208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220 (note they are owned by oracle now I think)
