       #Mastodon has made it abundantly clear that it doesn't want to be a replacement for #Twitter, but the 2024 election made it abundantly clear that Twitter needs to be replaced.Hence the rush to #Bluesky.

       @Naureckas maybe mastodon has said that but it doesn't speak for the larger fedi. no algos is the essential piece. no ads is a great bonus. bluesky is corruptible in a way fedi is not. when you look at @mondoweiss having their own server, that's exactly what the news medium needs to let the people decide what goes viral but also have outlets be totally independent. we just need more people here and more server options. sadly full threads federation might help with that.
