You see the reason this array doesn't assemble is because Canonical decided that it's completely fine to update the mdadm.conf when updating md/mdadm.They decided that it's completely fine to change my config from nvme*blah*blah to /dev/sd[a-f][1-9]Do you have any idea why an NVME system wouldn't boot if you changed to /dev/sd*? Because apparantly Canoncial doesn't.>inb4 newer ubuntu doesn't do this>inb4 literally any other cope shit from canonical shillsThere's literally no excuse for this.

@nishi @tfed Compiling anything is bloat. (Also this compute obviously doesn't have internet access (I'd need to insert a virtual CD-ROM over IPMI)).

@tfed @nishi I'm wondering if I could just make an iso that containes the update-initramfs binary from another system and just copy it to here.Otherwise I need to boot a live cd just to fix something the Ubuntu broke.

@splitshockvirus update-initramfs would likely fail in this environment even if you had the binary, as it assumes the real root to be mounted. I'm not even sure you have your real /etc under /etc at this point. Can't you just eliminate the problem that prevents real root from being mounted β€”Β import the array/pools manually and then ^D it so it can carry on its usual routine? πŸ€”@tfed @nishi

@monkyyy It isn't but it also isn't giving you the illusion of stability and then proceeding to break your boot partition. At least arch gives you the tools to fix your system and forces you to do so or filters you out if you can't read a wiki.t. arch btw for 5 years
