I'm in love with the zed editor. It's sooooo good on my slow ass laptop, no latency*, the GUI is amazing.Knowing it's owned by a single company and everything is under a CLA makes me sad. Sad to see this is the kind of stuff you need to build cool stuff while having a decent income. :(* Emacs is close to be unbearable on this machine.

@picnoir they want you to believe that’s the only option. But there are companies less awful than them that build great software, like signal or typst.

@hypha Yeah, there's an assistant tab. I did not use it so far. This part is not an issue for me, it's disabled by default, you have to link it to some openai/anthropic paid subscription for it to work. (I still refuse to send these company money, I 'm on the free plan)
