@TechThreadsByAidan nice article, thanks. bsky do have plans in place to keep the startup from becoming a gatekeeper to the community. they are aware of the risks funders pose and are taking steps in the right direction i think.

@TechThreadsByAidan "You can bridge a BlueSky account to the ActivityPub, but I suspect BlueSky might restrict that soon enough."They have been actively promoting bridgy fed, I think will be around.

@vitriolix@mastodon.social Also pretty weird to suspect Bluesky of it while saying nothing about the plenty of fedi instances which have restricted BridgyFed (even though it's mostly the fedi side which harassed the software developer into making it opt-in, too opt-in in my opinion)@TechThreadsByAidan@me.dmRE: https://makai.chaotic.ninja/notes/a0kh6ozop5

@TechThreadsByAidan@me.dm why this fixation on mastodon and not on the whole fediverse? There are plenty of other text services in the Fediverse which, in my opinion, are better and have more features than Mastodon, which is restrictive in every respect

@TechThreadsByAidan What is not included here is user experience.I don't like the issues we get from the federation part and it will definitely deter some less idealistic users.Even here: See more replies on me.dm. This is just super bad UX and really annoying.Often I cannot play back videos until I navigate to the hosting instance. The favorite count is really bad, and coming from a small instance it's usually zero. From an idealistic "corporations are bad and shouldn't be in control of our speech" mastodon is great, but for people who just want a platform that works and is nice to use, Mastodon has some really annoying flaws that I suspect the monolithic ones don't.
