Why the goddamning fuck did Seamonkey start requiring a virtualenv to build and who was it that was telling me that it'll still build with gtk2? gtk3 is hard-coded, the options are "cairo-gtk3" and "cairo-gtk3-wayland". :vomit:

@verita84_automata @p The irony is that virtualenvs were introduced because pip had the bad habit of breaking python distributions ( uninstalling packages to make a depence update only to leave it uninstalled if the package update failed for some reason )

@TheMadPirate @p @verita84_automata djikstra thought that basic ruined programmers. for some reason the unix community took this as license to marry itself to c, but history has born out that C is the brain damage and algols are what normal healthy humans prefer :comfyderp: there was a project to make a computing language based solely off usability research (i forget the name sadly) and every design decision had to cite papers about it. it ended up looking a lot like dylan or a less herpy derpy cobol in the end.nobody except mathematicians actually want to suffer math notation a minute longer than necessary lmao

@icedquinn @p @verita84_automata Well, I'm a future physicist so it makes sense I like math notation. In that way it's more natural to me to code in C,C++, Java or Python than to do it in Smalltalk, Ruby or Objective-C since I have internalized the logic of how a function is read. It just makes more sense for mathematicians or physicists.

Algol looks like C.C is an not too far removed from the Algol-68 report and people on IFIPWG 2.1 were also present in Bell Labs for the creation and refinements of C before its first release. Everyone there had read the report, McIlroy was a huge fan of the work, Bourne was one of the authors.
