@brett nice! what tools do you use for this? something to create the vector paths, a lasercutter, needle and thread? how do you come from 3d to 2d?

@feliks Generally I use SolveSpace for my designing in 3D and then export faces from that into Inkscape for arranging vector paths. In this specific case I designed it in 2D but still using SolveSpace. Then yeah you got it: laser cutter, 2 needles and some waxed thread

@brett oh! never heard of solvespace before. looks interesting. have you used freecad before? how would you compare the two?

@feliks I've used FreeCAD for like 5 minutes but it was so overwhelming that I never looked any further into it. I came to SolveSpace from OpenSCAD. It's great for the 3d printing/lasercutting types of projects I do that require no organic shapes or sculpting.

@brett okay. yeah i felt overwhelmed as well at the beginning but grew accustomed over time. still all these bugs and incompatibilities are a painwhat do you use for freeform shapes?
