New blog post: Make your own Personal HubWith the slow decay of the big social media sites and spread of userbases to different ends of the internet, it's time to make your home in the Internet.https://pixelde.su/blog/make-your-own-personal-hub/

@crafti From the post:> A space about yourself that you can put relevant information on, and at best, not just a link to other places you are on.

@pixel point still stays, and I am pretty sure you can include minimal information too.making websites is something that isn't as popular too afaik

@crafti yeah, but that's why the post talks about more non-technical options rather than full on "build a website"

@Seirdy and I also wanted to do away with the "make a website" posts, as people do tend to dismiss them as programming/hosting stuff. It can start without that, and grow into the need of building one, but by then people are already into it.

@pixel I don't know. I always had some kind of wordpress blog and never use it. Maybe I'm just not an interesting enough person.

@cent you don't have to be popular whatsoeverjust use it as a space to express yourselfand if you need some pointers on what to put on your site, use https://jamesg.blog/2024/02/19/personal-website-ideas/

@pixel and that website of yours is pretty styled. What I'm unsure about is how you can gather feedback from your readers with the options you're presenting.

@PypeBros yeah, I thought about that as well, but not too sure what options to go with.A comment widget would be an easy option, but then I'd need to invest a bunch of time to moderate that.Webmentions would also be an option, but getting that to work on a static site is also kind of painful.Could also just add a contact (and share) widget below all posts, but I have no layout ideas for that either, right now.

at some point, I started to have the comments about my blog as replies to the tweet where I announced the post rather than in the native comment widget .. then I realized that all these are in individual commenter's takeout data, and not in mine ...Yet many of those reactions are precious to me and it would be nice if they could be part of my backup (they are with the blog export feature)

@pixel there are also a lot more options these days for ppl who don't have hosting/coding/technical experience and need an easier starting place ^-^ off the top of my head – mmm.page, hotpage.dev, yay.boo

@pixel oh yes, i was just reinforcing your statement (⌒_⌒;) i think many ppl in the past defaulted to making their online home on social media bc there was a higher barrier to actually make a website. these days that barrier is much lower and can be as simple as drag and drop!
