My ipad pen has been missing for the last week and I can’t find it 😭 it’s an old ipad anyways and needs to be replaced and tbh i’ve been debating if I should just get a cintiq instead because I -supposedly- want to do art more regularly again, but saving up for one has been slow going w/ my current income. I’ve always used a wacom cintiq back in the day, but I know there’s cheaper ones on the market now but I’m unfamiliar with their long term quality. Does anyone have input?

@afairmaiden I use a xp pen 13 for YEARS! Shes great! Plus the pen nibs are SUPER cheap. You can get like 50 nibs for dirt cheap!

@Lewdtime yeah I was thinking of getting something larger than the size in the pic you shared because I’m used to working on a 22inch screen from my professional career haha. My ipad is a little small for me as well so I figured if I’m going to replace it I should upgrade the size.

@MisticHobo thank you, ive been looking into huion and xp pen but because i've never used them i'm trying to determine if I should stick to what is pricey but I am familiar with and is tried and true, or get the cheaper alternatives that may be nearly as good for all I know.

@afairmaiden I'm with the others commenting here. If you need something cheaper and high quality, Huion and XP pen are great.I still have my discount used cintiq 13 that I've been on for 6 years and even though it's an old unsupported model, you could probably get that even cheaper now too if you wish.

@afairmaiden I sadly don't draw with any of those but I know someone who uses the xp pen and they seem to like it.

@afairmaiden I've used one of the cheaper Cintiqs before, and they've lasted me quite a while! Definitely look around and read some reviews though, because some of the cheaper ones do have bugs/errors that would be *more* expensive to fix.Other than that though, I'd say go for it if you'd like to! I just know my experience was pleasant, n' I know not everyone's is the same ^.^

@afairmaiden Was checking on your profile, I'm a bit of a turbo nerd with these things lolOnly the newer XP and Huion models are worth mentioning as the new pens handle the pressure much better. The user TheSevenPens explains this in better detail:https://docs.thesevenpens.com/drawtab/core-features/pen-pressureWacom is worth, but only if you want to "minimax" the pressure handling and find one on sale or 2nd hand in great condition.Optimizing the UI helps a lot, this way I was able to maximize the size of my Cintiq 16
