someone should figure out how to make it so that if you drag and drop a file into an SSH session (like in putty), it automatically creates some kind of tunnel (over SFTP or something?) and transfers the file

like maybe you drag-drop a file onto putty, it runs the unix equivalent of "COPY CON FILENAME.DAT" and then types in the file for you.but with dynamic tunnels and binary transfers and not plaintext

@foone I think SecureCRT does this if you have SecureFX installed as well.I don't have that on this machine to check. I just have SecureCRT and if you drag+drop on it, it offers to send via ascii, binary, or Kermit/Xmodem/Ymodem/Zmodem

@foone adding tunnels is supported. You can use the SSH escape sequences to add/manage port forwarding stuff (PuTTY can also do it through the SSH menu). Rest may just be some clever use of netcat on both sides.

@foone Some terminals provide functionality like this via Zmodem - you drag a file into the window and it types something like “rz file name” into the session and then pipes it in. I think at least iTerm2 on the Mac does this.

@foone > use the already-authenticated channel I have openIs there an equivalent of SSH "ControlMaster" on Windows? Because on linux that's exaclty how I reuse open channels to rsync or scp (and as a bonus: this make autocomplete work on remote paths, even without a ssh key in the key agent). Also I think I vaguely remember that Filezilla can use PuTTY's key agent. (so it will open a diffetent channel, but reuse the already loaded SSH key). And at worst: there's always Zmodem

@foone SecureCRT does allow you to open an SFTP session from the current SSH session, but it’s CLI-based, so that’s not exactly what you’re looking for. No idea if it’s possible to script something that will do what you want using it though.
