whatever is happening at BitWarden - at least this response makes me want to wait and see. I don't get the "OOH ITS CRAP NOW WHERE DO WE GO NEXT???" panic ...> "(...) it seems like a packaging bug was misunderstood as something more, and the team plans to resolve it."https://x.com/Bitwarden/status/1848360537995812942?t=tnFcxBf_YK-3Ci4ggBPA3Q&s=19

looks like "wait and see" was the correct move:https://www.theregister.com/2024/11/04/bitwarden_gpls_password_manager/

@decathorpe > The original sdk repository will be renamed to sdk-secrets, and retains its existing Bitwarden SDK License structure for our Secrets Manager business products.> Bitwarden remains commited to the open source licensing modelNo it is not. While bitwarden the password manager seems to be open source, some other products they have was not and will not be open source.

@lyyn I don't see the problem with that? just because *some* of their products are not open source doesn't mean that their "main" product being open source shouldn't count.

@decathorpe Writing proprietary software does not sound like being "committed to the open source licensing model". Or am I mistaking what being committed to means?

@lyyn it looks like all the things that I as an end user care about are now "more open source" than they were before this whole kerfuffle, so I count that as a net win anything else is pessimistic nitpicking that I have no energy for and am not interested in, sorry.
