This all echoes in me through vague memories of “Mach go go go!” seen on TV and the Motorball arc in GUNNM. Now seeing that and knowing that they went with straight bangs in the end… this seems just wrong: instead of letting the artist refresh the design and bring it to a new pinnacle, somebody on the board decided to settle with something more generic. Somehow neither the palette nor the suit a-la racer (and already stolen with the Power Rangers franchise and everyone else capitalising on cheap superheroes) weren’t the problem. Also the smaller red oval on the belly looked more elegant and more sexy than that heavy roundel, that Hibana ended up with.
