It's probably pointless but can someone please explain to me why Trump is suing 60 Minutes? Or not "why" I know why, but the premise of the suit? I don't even get this one at all. What did they do?What is the theory of the case for "election interference" ?

@vivtek OK... but isn't what they do is ... edit videos? Is that what "making a TV show" ... is? I-- And. Why do they have any obligation to be neutral in any sense as a company making a show? Is this the Fairness Doctrine?

@futurebird He claims they edited an interview with Harris to make it more favorable to her, which I guess would be bias, if we ignore absolutely all evidence, context, and the fact they are not legally obliged to be unbiased.

@futurebird The theory of the case is that it puts another grievance in front of his base, and he won’t win but that doesn’t cost him much since he stiffs his lawyers anyway.

@futurebird @vivtek He claims they lied due to deceptive editing and that they broadcast otherfalsehoods, and therefore they should have their broadcast license revoked.As usual, every accusation is an admission. Multiple interviews with Trump have been deceptively edited in his favor, and his favorite news outlets lie all the time. He doesn't like being caught like that, so he's trying to make it a "both sides" thing.

@futurebird The Trump organization filed dozens of baseless lawsuits in 2020 -- all with the intent to create smoke in order to imply a fire that did not exist.The point is not to put out the non-existent fire, it's to justify setting your own fires in "retaliation".
