Replaced my #WordPress website by #Ghost 👻 It was coming for some time nowNow it has also a 'subscription' system so the latest posts will show up in the inbox! It also offers a new way to support me on a monthly or yearly basis with a 3rd party platformhttps://stux.me

@stux I've been thinking of doing this. Is it easy to run yourself? I want to run it on a DO instance that my site runs on.

@mempko It uses Ghost so super easy, in theory it still uses Stripe as payment prodiver but it's managed via the site where also sub are handled

@stux Thanks, I found the instructions here. https://ghost.org/docs/install/ubuntu/Though I'll need to modify them slightly because I want to run under a subdomain. Also need to migrate from apache to nginx I think? Yes, my website still uses apache :-/

@mempko No worries! If you install via npm you can just enter the domain you want so no modsIt's just in the config.prod file :cat_hug_triangle:

@mempko Also little notice, for me the Mailgun API doesn't really work (still have to fill it out) but I use SMTP for sending mails Hopefully you won't have this issue

@stux I'm currrently building my personal site as a chance to update my knowledge of Next.js and Vercel, why did you choose Ghost over the other open source CMS options? The lack of a free tier turns me off for a small vanity project

@vitriolix I self-host so "no costs" on Ghost 😉 Ghost acts like a single page app and I really love that, it's a little limited in overall options and plugins etc but it's worth itWordPress is super bloated these days and I feel like everyday a new security issue pops upBesides those two I don't have any other favo CMSes

@stux good point on the self hosting. I'm aiming for as low maintenance as possible though.I've been checking out Sanity.js which seems cool, but free tier only has 2 public (!) data sets.Payload looks cool, but free must self host as well.Maybe the lesson here is I need to self host ;)
