@Morghur @Sui Dragon Age used to be a pretty fun universe, there is all that every one else already said about the Quanari.Elves were based on the Jews ( i think ? ), so you had two very different cultures of them, the "ghetto" Elves who lived as second class citizens in the human cities and assimilated human culture, and the "wild" Elves who lived in the woods, dressed like the Elves from the time they ruled all the other races and viewed even the other sort of Elf as traitors who "sold-off".People with magical abilities could attract Demons to take over their bodies like in Warhammer, yet there also was this nation you would always read about from far away where the Mages were a slaving owning ruling class and if you didn't throw a fireball you were sent straight to the plantation.All of that was throw away to make room for Reddit humor and Gay romance for the fujoshis.

Some of their later rules allowed you to customize both tieflings and aasimar based on the supernatural being in your family tree. You could have tieflings descended from Japanese oni or rakshasas, which functioned very differently from the classic versions and had different powers

It's great too because Sten became the hornless Arishok so in the comics he has stumps and I think they released a patch for DA:O so they don't just look like bigger grey humans. The shitty thing about DA:I is there's fun parts and some characters are well written but even back then the beginning was taking hold. Cassandra was wide jawed even back then and people made mods to make her gay or bi because she was super straight, but Dorian the gay faggot couldn't have a straight or gay mod because that's bigoted and at least the Cremisius pooner you only really found was a pooner if you pried they didn't shove it down your throat. I started with 2 because it was a gift from my dad, played it and started a second playthrough right away then moved back to origins. Same, I revived some sexual realism from earlier editions of D&D for my NPCs. Expanded on it a bit, STR/CON/INT are more male focused stats, DEX/WIS/CHA being female. Some fantasy species flip that, or have different ones altogether, but for humans that's close enough for what I need. Also regional human stat variations, based on what kind of environment they're from. Stat differences leading to racism depending on how different they are, and any historical events like wars between them. The mountainfolk think cityfolk are weak little bitches, and the cityfolk think they're simple brutes etc.

That stuff is something that i like. That and races having stat caps. For example, satyrs being idiotic drunkards have a very low INT cap but they have the highest charisma. Elves are puny and have a low cap on toughness, but they have very high intelligence. Orcs have high strength but a low cap on charisma because they tend to take everything very seriously and are always itchy for a fight.Sexual dymorphism reflected on stats is something that i like, but also significant differences on stats depending on the races. No more leftoid "But we're interchangeable. We are practically the same" bullshit. I don't expect a hulking orc to be as lively and charismatic as a satyr or as smart as an elf. Everyone has different aptitudes and that makes worldbuilding more detailed.

Caps I'm not so fond of, at least not hard caps. Making improving something past a certain point I like, so after 5/10 (or whatever) points in something the gains become less significant and/or more expensive. I think we've talked about your satyrs before, I'd of gone with a substance debuff and debuffs for trying to fight the addiction rather than a blunt statblock change. My orcs are higher strength and charisma, goblins being dexterity and intelligence and then trolls constitution and wisdom. I wanted my greenskins to be loosely balanced. Charisma can just be intimidation with intent, goblins lack anything to back up their evil with and trolls are just too dense, so I went with orcs (varying sub types, some being more imposing and leader material). Part of the central plot is that suddenly these tribes of green retards are working together and acting very differently, much more complicated leadership chains leading to much much larger forces being fielded effectively without infighting tearing them apart.

You might not be so fond of, but i think it's ok. After all, i don't expect some races to perform as good as others in some areas no matter how hard they try.Also, in my case more than statcaps i put special rules to races giving them bonuses and penalties. Like for example, orcs have partial magic inmunity because of the high iron content of their bodies, but also if you challenge one to do something requiring strength or courage, they will be unable to resist the challenge and they are inmune to intimidation because intimidation rolls will force the orc player to roll willpower to resist fighting whoever tried to fuck with them.When it comes to satyrs, i put that they need booze to live or else they start to take debuffs and eventually dying, instantly failing charisma checks that require finesse or etiquette and being weak to white quartz, white mistle and breathing incense would poison them. But they have tons of bonuses too.
