If we can survive this election, what comes next is more important than ever. Many, Democrats will want to go back to doing what they were doing before this crisis of fascism came to a head. We cannot let this happen because even if Trump is imprisoned for his crimes the same thing will keep happening. At the root of all the problems are two major flaws:1. Money in politics2. The popular vote NOT being the foundation of congress or the presidency.1/

This morning my husband asked me "Won't most women vote for Kamala?""Yes.""And there are more women than men, right?""Yes. And women are more likely to vote than men on top of that.""So... why do we have this problem?"For a second we were both stumped we'd forgotten about the electoral college. (You can see why one might want to forget.)

@0xdd We need to make the money in politics issue a "Third Rail." For obvious reasons few politicians will do this themselves, it has to be a real grassroots thing.

@futurebird God I am hoping that we have a trifecta and abolish the filibuster. It is indeed the only way we can save our democracy and the planet. But I am hopeful. I think we'll win in a landslide and a trifecta is possible. Literally anything can happen this election-- legacy polling is just not going to capture it.

Electing Harris alone won't actually move the needle and we’ll be right back here in 4 years.The GOP has demonstrated time and again their ability to stonewall actual progress in the favor of their own power. @futurebird @paulc @eirias Correction: 2020 was Biden. But this worries me. In 2020, white men had a white guy they could vote for, as the alternative for the white/orange creep In 2024 it's again a choice between a convicted white guy and a woman, a black one at that. Not sure they will be as comfortable voting for Kamala this time.

@futurebird I'm not so sure that there is actually a reformist path to fixing the US. You would ask congress to make illegal what every member has been doing?And don't forget:3. The press, largely controlled by the same people who buy congress, and none of them care more about the truth than how many ads they can sell. Trump would never have been anywhere in politics if the press had done their duty.
