       @mmoshow @nam @Dhowjen the strategy of playing on emotional responses is not just a problem of ad-driven media or something only one side does. it works on conservatives and progressives and in a value for value environment.where you can't use it is when you're trying to help people understand everyone's perspectives. there's almost always a charitable way to look at the positions people take, but you can't honestly explain why they might think that and also say obviously they're evil etc.
