If a baraag user is reported by multiple different people for trying to pass off AI generated content as hand-drawn art, I will give them 72 hours to either live stream or screen record their process with the drawing program being used in real time to prove the allegations wrong. I will not accept automatic speedpaint exported videos as evidence (eg. procreate) because it does not show the whole screen as the creator rotates the canvas or clicks to pick different brushes, layers and colors.

@satori It's very sad that some people have even created AI-generated videos of the drawing process. They're easily noticeable as not the real thing, but man... these people will shit on artists at every step but still do everything in their power to pretend to be one. It's such a clear case of unwarranted and mean-spirited jealousy.

@pokephilefantasy while AI is at the point now where it can spoof an automatic speedpaint timelapse, to my knowledge it is not advanced enough to spoof an artist manually manipulating software tools with a mouse cursor. For this reason, I insist on seeing the whole screen being recorded or live streamed with the program being used in context with the drawing and not just the canvas process sped up.

@InvincibleSugar I recognize that this could be abused by harassers, but for now I will only act on multiple different reports that also come from baraag users themselves and not from outside our server. Because we are invite-only with an application process, it is less likely to be organized harassment from people making multiple accounts outside baraag.

@satori this is fair. It reminds me of speedrunning proof standards that a lot of games have where you need a handcam or something along those lines. Given that baraag is mostly full of artists and they're all mostly there for the same reason, I don't think this will be taken advantage of to attempt deplatforming people either. That would be more of a concern over on Twitter.I do wonder if you could potentially accept a PSD or whatever the equivalent is for other programs. I know Photoshop has AI tools in it now, but it should still be pretty easy to tell if it has been used when you have access to all the information.Also, does this apply to only fully generated art, or using AI at any point? I know there are a few artists who generate backgrounds with AI but the characters are drawn, and they are honest about using that technique.

@beardalaxy I would also accept a PSD file that is privately sent to me. This only applies to fully generated art that is seemingly edited to fix errors or add human made elements, yet lacks the #AI tagged disclosure.

@satori It’s certainly great to hear you’re doing this sort of verification. I’m guessing forwarded reports from other instances aren’t accepted for this?The latter part is a bit worrying though, as anyone using shortcut keys, external controllers, and/or not rotating the canvas due to using a tablet are out as well as those using certain apps that don’t show such things, as you mentioned. I can’t imagine LLMs are at the point of making a believable drawing process video at this point.

@wowaname @satori i know a bunch do if you subscribe to them. basically you get lower quality images for free but if you pay you can get the PSDs with full quality. that seems like a pretty good idea to me.

@satori I appreciate this being taken seriously but I would be really uncomfortable sharing a screen recording of myself drawing, personally. Also, I'm sure not everyone who gets caught out passing off AI as hand-drawn will be unable to draw; it reminds me of how some of the best speedrunners succumb to cheating. Still, I wish you best of luck. I'm oddly relieved right now that my drawings are too unskilled to be mistaken for being AI-assisted.

@PAWn @DrProletariat @satoriIn time the uses and attitudes towards generative models may change, but scammers will always be abhorrent.I recently helped uncover a scammer that charged upwards of $100 per commission and would not only use generative models to do all the work but has an active patreon and would fail to deliver on many clients.Being able to prove this using examples and even recreating the faked speedpaints would help immensely at keeping the integrity of the community intact.
