The next big thing: VGA-C.analog video, but you don't have to flip the cable to make it fit!

@foone and it uses yet another identical-looking but not interchangeable USB-C cable because at this point what’s the difference.

I also experienced my first case of "alt-text-driven-development".I made revision 1 of the image, when to post it, and while writing the alt-text I realized I described something inconsistently, and it was because the image was missing an element I had forgotten to actually create. So I had to go back and edit the image further, so the alt-text (and the image) would be correct.

@frang yep! so if you rotate it 180 degrees, it still plugs in correctly, with all pins matching up.

@foone on the plus side, you could probably bend quite a few pins before the cable becomes unusable.

@foone DB29 on both ends for "VGA-C" ... so when an end-user has a signal problem, they can flip both ends around like with CAT6 cables clicking, or USB-C to USB-C ends fitting tightly 🙄

@foone VGA-C with autodetect. Only 5 of the centre pins exist on the plug, so it's all physical auto-configuring depending which prong is in which hole, a little bit like

@foone @NanoRaptor to compete with USB-Cs upfuckery, VGA-C connectors will flip resolution depending on the direction they're being plugged in (1024x768 vs. 768x1024) and there's no way to tell in advance. 🔥

@foone an adventurous manufacturer might be tempted to try and abuse this as a Dual-Link VGA connector - IIRC Pin 6 is a Ground pin, so having that shared should not cause too many problems...
